Walking is one of the least expensive and easiest ways to get fit.  Join other Texans and Walk Across Texas!to reduce your risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, and move towards a healthier lifestyle. Walk Across Texas is a free, eight-week program to help families establish the habit of regular physical activity. W.A.T. can be geared towards any age student, from pre-K to high school. Parents can be involved in teams or help their students reach their classroom goal through 'Bonus Miles'. Teacher resources are available on the website. Many lesson plans are available to support the TEAKs requirements to help participants be more successful with their learning checks. Learn how you can bring this wonderful program to your students! In 2018, students at 5 campuses in Kaufman, Texas, walked over 58 times across Texas!  2,811 Kaufman ISD youth walked 48, 933.75 miles.  Weekly newsletters were sent to families in English & Spanish to introduce healthy lifestyle habits.  This has become an annual fall event, and everyone looks forward to it!
